The Tau Game Lodge can be found within the world class and malaria-free Madikwe Game Reserve. Situated within the heart of the North West Province of South Africa, it is a pleasant 4 hour journey by road from Johannesburg or a short 45 minute flight.

Accommodation

There are 30 luxurious 5 star thatched chalets that can accommodate a maximum of 60 people. Built in a “U” shape formation that flank the main lodge, they provide amazing views of the busy waterhole. Varying from the standard to the deluxe and family unit, these beautiful chalets can accommodate everyone.

Wildlife

The Madikwe Game Reserve covers more than 75000 hectares of bushveld and is home to more than 66 large mammals including the famous Big 5 and over 340 different species of birdlife. Regular sightings of the critically endangered African Wild Dog, Cheetah, Nyala and Sable Antelope to name a few are commonplace.

Birding enthusiasts will be thrilled to view species such as Yellow throated Sandgrouse, Kori bustard, Temminck”s Courser, .Harlequin Quail, Olive Tree Warbler, Melodious Lark, African Fish Eagle, Bateleur, Martial Eagle, Lappetfaced Vulture, a variety of Bee-eaters and the exquisite Paradise Whydah.

Due to the frequency of rates changing, we do not publish official rates on this website. Luxury Safaris range in a variety of prices and, as an indication of what to expect, one can pay anywhere from R2 000 to R20 000 per person per night sharing and more, depending on the choice of accommodation, season, specials and other determining factors. For the most up to date rates, please contact us.
