NKaya Lodge is in the north eastern area of the Thornybush Game Reserve. It commands stunning views across the Lowveld to the Drakensberg mountains. Thornybush Game Reserve consists of 11 500 hectares of pristine bushveld and borders the Kruger National Park.

There are secluded decks which offer optimal privacy to guests and a magnificent view of the Drakensberg mountains. Subtle earth tones and natural materials blend beautifully into the surrounding landscape.
Thornybush is a fenced private game reserve, boasting the Big Five, and a multitude of mammals which include; cheetah, hippo and spotted hyena. Guests are often treated to frequent sightings of the secretive black rhino. Night game drives often offer rare sightings of the elusive genet, bush baby, civet, caracal, and porcupine. There is also the possibility of observing predators mid-hunt and mid kill. A variety of notable birds in the area include; the malachite kingfisher, the Groundscraper Thrush, Martial Eagle, Namaqua Dove, Fork-tailed drongo, Green Pigeon, Blacksmith Plover, Lesser spotted an eagle and Black-crowned night heron.
